according to my notes, if countries are endowed with certain resources for competitive advantage over another countries, they would specialise in production of certain goods to minimise opp. cost of producing them; in the end you get mutually beneficial basis for trade.apply that concept to life. so humans (in general) are endowed with brains for a competitive advantage over animals, hence we are superior. right. but among ourselves, there's a never-ending struggle to be on top of the social and economic ladder, and apparently, to stay on top once you're at the top. now that's another story for another day.my point being, since we're all endowed with brains for a competitive advantage over animals, it fascinates me that from a singular organ we can produce so much variety in our lives because we each have our strengths and individual talents that differ from one another, that's our individual comparative advantage. alright, look at the big picture. the colourful spread of languages, cultures, religions, artworks, you get the picture. look at what we've done, on a global scale. we've built the tallest buildings, created the finest sculptures, produced the most beautiful stuff we once thought could only exist in our imagination. (and forgive me for my atrocious English) people from different parts of the world create different stuff (see?!), and when we all come together to celebrate life, there's always space for mutually beneficial basis of trade.because we're always learning about something new, discovering wonderful stuff about the world, and you find that this world is really beautiful=)maybe that's why we're awed by things that we've never seen before, we always welcome the exotic, and we embrace change.because every country, and on the individual level, each person is endowed with different abilities and gifts, we all contribute to this world in our own way, and i (strongly) believe that no matter how bad someone seems, you gotta look beyond that, and find that person's comparative advantage over you.+++RAH. don't worry. i'm not high on anything, i've just got an overdose of studying econs.if the above post leaves you puzzled, it's alright. it's just me rattling off whatever's in my head at this point in time. rah.
